Between a lack of clarity, stodgy reports, atrocious job descriptions and more, people are getting bogged down – and losing time – tryign to figure out what the message is supposed to be!
Add to that my personal bugbear – poor spelling. What people don’t realise is that poor spelling costs money. My argument is that you will never know how much business you have lost because a person has clicked away in disgust from your website or turned the newspaper page on your badly written ad.
According to one estimate, a single spelling mistake can cut online sales in half.
Wow! That’s an incredible statistic and a lot of lost euros.

Want some tips:
Slow down: Plan what you want to say, draft how you want to say it, then walk away!
Edit: Read your text out loud. If you run out of breath, you’ve written too much and need to shorten the sentence.
Ask yourself: Does my writing meet the need of the person reading it? They want a solution – are you offering one? Or are you telling them how great you are. Spoiler alert: they don’t care. What they do care about is whether you can solve the problem that led them to your brochure or website in the first place.
Time is money: Treat the reader’s time as your most valuable commodity. Don’t waste it!
